Common People Oxford 2017

The world is in the middle of the most serious refugee crisis since the second world war. This year, world-famous musicians, festival goers and music fans will stand together in solidarity with people forced to flee conflict and disaster. So join the chain – and STAND AS ONE with refugees worldwide.

Millions of people have been forced to flee terrifying situations only to face closed borders, hostility or worse. Denied the most basic of rights; men, women and children are forced to live in makeshift camps without protection, warmth or even access to clean water.

These are people just like you and me, who deserve safety, dignity and respect. Oxfam is there – in places like Syria, Burundi and South Sudan – providing basics like clean water, toilets and shelter, doing everything we can to make sure they’re safe.

But on its own, this isn’t enough. People on the move today need a global solution. They need us to stand together, to speak out and call on world leaders to act. To Stand As One.

We’re asking everyone from musicians to festival goers to Stand As One with Oxfam, joining a global human chain in support of people who have fled conflict, poverty and disaster. Calling on world leaders attending the UN summit on refugees and migrants in September to do more to save and protect lives.

You can be part of it. Just keep an eye out for our volunteers roaming around the festival. Sign our petition and have your photo taken to join the chain. You can also show your support for the campaign by proudly wearing your Stand As One wristband – or by lending your voice on social media, using the hashtag #StandAsOne.

Now’s the time to Stand As One with refugees worldwide.
